Electrical Appliances for the Home
Technology has afforded us many great advancements in the arena of home appliances. We can now heat without a stove, cool without
windows and even toast without a toaster.
Of course we can still buy a dishwasher, a stove, a washer/dryer but now these products do more, and typically cost less.
For instance, to get the most savings from running your dryer be sure to follow these simple tips: Clear lint from the lint tray before
you use the dryer each time. Proper air flow will cut down the drying time, as well as wear and tear on the dryer and your clothes.
Periodically check your outside dryer vent for lint clogs. Obstructed air flow will make your dryer work harder and shorten the life of the
dryer. Also, be sure to use the proper dryer setting. Many dryers have a delicate / permanent press cycle to protect fabrics which might be
damaged by high temperatures.
This setting also uses less energy for these lighter clothes that don't need the full dryer heat. Use this setting whenever possible to
save the most.
Of course using your washing machine can also add up at the end of the month, so there are always ways to save money when using it as
well. First, locate your washing machine as close to the hot water tank as possible.
The shorter distance from the hot water tank, the less amount of heat loss in the pipes. Also, be sure to insulate any exposed pipes
from the hot water heater to the washing machine. Finally, be sure to set your hot-water heater thermostat to 120°F. A 10°F reduction in water
temperature will cut the cost of washing a hot wash cycle by over 10%.
Of course aside from washing our clothes we use electrical appliances for many other household chores and some luxuries. One such luxury
is air conditioning. Air conditioners have made it possible to stay cool inside, even on the hottest of summer days.
Unfortunately running an air conditioner can also be extremely costly. Some tips for saving money when running your air conditioner are:
clean the air filter, raise the temperature (try cooling to 80 degrees instead of 70 degrees), use an air conditioner timer, replace your old air
conditioner and never cool unused rooms.
Electrical appliances or Küchen Elektrogeräte have certainly made our homes more enjoyable but we must be aware of the energy we use for not only
financial reasons but for environmental reasons as well.
Be sure to only use your electrical appliances when they are needed and make sure they are safely turned off when you're done.
There are many great alternatives to look for (such as a ceiling fan instead of an air conditioner) and many more ways to save. It's
also important to take care of all electrical appliances, keeping them free from dirt and clutter.
If we are conscientious and conservative our appliances will not only operate efficiently but they will serve our needs well into the
future.
