Car Bluetooth

When most people hear the phrase “Bluetooth wireless technology,”  the first thing they think of are headsets and mobile phones. It’s a phrase that is most often associated with the  technology used to replace cables.

Most people don’t realize that one of the largest areas of Bluetooth technology growth is in the area for cars.

Car Bluetooth wireless technology today,  is most often used to give the driver  hands-free use of their mobile phones so.  With Bluetooth technology a driver doesn’t have to search in their pocket or pocketbook  for their cell phone when it rings, and they do not  have to  hold it in order to carry on a conversation. Worldwide today there are more than 30 automotive brands that offer Bluetooth enabled communications systems, either standard or optional, in their new car models.  Generally, the Bluetooth technology is part of a larger system of communication that includes navigation.

Most often the Bluetooth technology is directly integrated into the electronic system of the car. This scale does the driver of the car to the fullest range of Bluetooth functionality.

Cars that offer Bluetooth technology are available in all price ranges.  Some of the brands that offer this  technology are Lexus, Acura, BMW, Lincoln, Toyota, Daimler Chrysler, and Opel. 

The Acura TL, which is a popular car, uses wireless Bluetooth technology in its standard Hands Free Link. This enables the driver to answer and end mobile calls without having to touch his cell phone.  Once it has been paired with the Bluetooth technology.  When a phone call is answered, the audio system is automatically muted. For people that want to have Bluetooth technology installed in their existing cars, they have the option of installing one of the many aftermarket kits available. The kits vary greatly in their installation. 

There are some that have to be installed by professionals, while there are others that simply have to be plugged into a cigarette lighter and then paired to your cell phone, such as the Parrot Drive Blue car kit. 

There are also custom-made installation kits with enhanced features. For example, one of the products available, is the Nokia Advanced Car Kit, which offers an  affordable Bluetooth technology option to car owners.

Once installed, this kit has ignition sense detection, and will mute the car radio when a call is received. 

It also allows volume adjustment and call handling through remote control.

For car owners that have a Bluetooth enabled mobile phone, there is always the option of adding a Bluetooth  wireless headset, or pairing with a Bluetooth global positioning system receiver.
